Authentic Ancient Arts Karate and Kobudo studio emphasizes the traditional study of the martial arts. Our focus is on street level self defense and the improvement of the total person. The recent addition of Russian Kettlebell training adds emphasis to our study of the martial arts.
All Authentic Ancient Arts dojos are affiliated with the Shorinkan, the world-wide organization of Sensei Shuguro Nakazato, 10th degree black belt and President of the Shorinkan for Karate and, for Kobudo (weapons study), with the Okinawa Kobudo Doushi Rensei-kai (OKDR) founded by Sensei Yoshiaki Gakiya, 8th degree black belt and under the leadership of Sensei Neil Stolsmark. Both organizations are based in Okinawa. Sensei Neil Stolsmark, 8th degree black belt, of Waukesha WI, is the head of Authentic Ancient Arts dojos and its affiliates, as well as president of the international OKDR.
The study of the martial arts is designed to develop several traits within the individual: a sense of personal safety, self esteem, self confidence, physical fitness, well being, and self discipline. Children learn to cope with bullying behavior and develop a strong sense of responsibility for their actions. Adults learn to better cope with the stress of daily life and skills to deal with adversarial relationships.
