About Authentic Ancient Arts
Authentic Ancient Arts Karate and Kobudo studio emphasizes the traditional study of the martial arts. We are not interested in tournament competition, rather our focus is on street level self defense and the improvement of the total person.
All Authentic Ancient Arts dojos are affiliated with the Shorinkan, the world-wide organization of Sensei Shuguro Nakazato, 10th degree black belt and President of the Shorinkan for Karate and, for Kobudo (weapons study), with the Okinawa Kobudo Doushi Rensei-kai (OKDR) under the leadership of Sensei Yoshiaki Gakiya, 8th degree black belt. Both organizations are based in Okinawa. Sensei Neil Stolsmark, 7th degree black belt, of Waukesha WI, is the head of Authentic Ancient Arts dojos and its affiliates.
Our Philosophy
The study of the martial arts is designed to develop several traits within the individual: a sense of personal safety, self esteem, self confidence, physical fitness, well being, and self discipline. Children learn to cope with bullying behavior and develop a strong sense of responsibility for their actions. Adults learn to better cope with the stress of daily life and skills to deal with adversarial relationships.
Our lineage: The drawings below are of the Shorinryu masters through whom we trace our style of karate.
